Craven PRS, received a "DIY SOS-style" makeover on Monday, August 24, thanks to a team from corporate business ESR Europe.
The project included painting the entire top section of the school—covering six classrooms, the hall, reception entrance and railings—along with extensive landscaping of gardens and the allotment, and addressing electrical issues and emergency lighting.
Michelle Airey, manager at Craven PRS, said: "We are a local pupil referral unit in Skipton and had an amazing opportunity for a 'DIY SOS' style face lift on Monday, August 24.
"This was facilitated by a corporate business who are providing around 33 volunteers to come paint, fix and garden for the day."
The volunteers worked from 10am to 4pm to complete the transformation.
Ms Airey said: "They did an unbelievable job.
"They all worked so hard.
"We truly appreciate every person who helped, especially James from ESR who organised the whole day."
Craven PRS supports 29 permanently excluded pupils from across North and West Yorkshire, including Craven and Keighley.
The service has 14 staff members.
Ms Airey said: "We didn't think anything like this would ever happen to us.
"They cleared the site and got on with the jobs that needed doing.
"It began with a chance conversation with ESR Europe.
"A lot of companies have volunteer days where people go and help out.
"A person who lives locally contacted us and said 'This is what we do. Would you be interested?'
"We were very excited."
She explained that limited time and resources often mean essential maintenance gets overlooked.
Ms Airey said: "A lot of our focus is on the students themselves, so we don't always have time to do jobs that need doing inside and outside the building.
"There are little things that need tweaking that we never get around to doing.
"This is a massive boost for us.
"It's lovely when people put back into the community."
Volunteers also trimmed bushes, cleared the gardens and repaired and painted the building's interior.
Ms Airey said: "The school needed freshening up.
"A freshly painted school takes away from the worries we have, so we can focus on the students.
"The community invests in us, we invest in the students and the students invest in themselves."
