English Lead with SENCO or Designated Safeguarding Lead

Start date: 6th September 2021

We are recruiting a small team of exceptional leaders to achieve our vision and work together to create a genuinely outstanding school.

We are looking to apoint an English with the additional skills and experience to take on the role of SENCO or Designated Safeguarding Lead and support a small team of instructors and teaching assistants in our thriving, 23-place Alternative Provision.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled, enthusiastic, ambitious and innovative subject specialist and SENCO to join our new school leadership team and make a real difference to the lives of young people who are facing challenges.

Our leaders must have sky-high expectations of what all young people can achieve, regardless of barriers. They believe that all young people are entitled to access the full richness of a broad and balanced curriculum, and will thrive if given appropriate support to access and succeed in that curriculum.

If you have outstanding leadership potential and bags of energy and resilience, this could be the ideal role for you.

We believe that the opportunities are boundless, and aspire to be a centre of excellence that delivers innovative solutions that meet a regional need.

The successful candidate will grow with our school: we will develop you, providing one-to-one support, coaching and access to high-quality training. You will also have the opportunity to collaborate with other North Yorkshire alternative provisions.

The school expects:

• A UK teaching qualification such as PGCE/PGDE, SCITT, BEd or MEd with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

• a relevant subject-related/ SEN degree

• experience of delivering your subject up to GCSE, enabling and engaging learners to progress within the subject

• a love and passion for education

As well as benefitting from significant, local authority support, we also have excellent facilities, and committed, pupil centred staff, recognised for their outstanding teaching and learning practice.

Skipton is a picturesque market town, serving a large surrounding rural area including the Yorkshire Dales National Park to the north. It is an appealing place to live, offering excellent primary and secondary schools and a wide variety of sporting and cultural activities.

It is ideally situated with easy access not only to areas of outstanding natural beauty such as the Lake District, the Dales and the North Yorkshire Moors but also larger towns such as Harrogate, York, Leeds, Bradford and Manchester. Rail and road links are excellent; Leeds Bradford Airport is only forty minutes away, Manchester Airport an hour.

Craven PRS  is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our pupils and young people. We have a robust Child Protection Policy and all staff will receive training relevant to their role at induction and throughout employment at the School.  We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  This post is subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service criminal records check for work with children.
