We all remember the explosions, smells and loud bangs in science lessons! The aim in science lessons at Craven PRS is to engage pupils in the adventure that is science, to spark their curiosity about the world and to develop their problem solving and thinking skills.
At the end of the day we aim to ensure that every pupil experiences success in lessons and makes progress in developing their understanding, knowledge and skills not only in science but also for life. Students’ scientific literacy and numeracy are encouraged to be developed alongside their natural inquisitiveness about real world scientific phenomena.
At KS3 the aim is to develop their numeracy and scientific literacy to enable them to access the curriculum when they return to mainstream education.
In KS4 the aim is to support pupils toward post-16 work, education or training by providing a curriculum and qualification appropriate to their needs:
Pupils receive 2.5 hours of science teaching per week. Additional revision classes are offered in the run up to exams.
Pupils are exceptionally well prepared for examinations and almost all pupils make rapid progress from their baselines on entry.
